She comes from a detective story background and weaves dark novels: a multiple award-winner, notably the Goncourt des lycéens, Sandrine Collette is recognized as a major writer in French literature. Although she remains withdrawn in her campaign, she has formed a friendship with her editor, Véronique Cardi.

Thursday, November 28, 2024, 1 p.m. Sandrine Collette is outdoors in her house in Morvan. A phone call will accelerate everything. "My editor calls me: I've just won the Goncourt prize for high school students!" says the novelist. All she has to do is change quickly, take the train in a hurry, and go to the prize ceremony on rue de Grenelle, in Paris, at the Ministry of National Education, that same evening. "Of course, I was one of the finalists, but I wasn't going to stay in Paris and wait for the result; I had a three-in-four chance of coming home empty-handed." A serene distance that doesn't prevent a real literary ambition and an obvious joy at success.
